Garden Hose Know-How!

Garden Hose Know-How! Do You Know What You Need?
It might sound strange to you that people need advice on buying a good garden hose... what's to know? Actually, there are really a lot of things that one needs to think about and look at before choosing which garden hose to take home and start using. Important aspects are material, length, and quality. While it might sound funny to think one has to think about the length, it's actually quite common that people end up with a ridiculously long garden hose that weighs a ton and isn't needed or they end up with a hose that's just a little bit too short to reach the corners of one's garden. Either situation is one that nobody wants to be in, so the best way to deal with the length question is to take a piece of string and measure out how far your garden hose needs to be in order to run from your outdoor faucet to all of the places on your property where you will want to bring the hose.

Measuring how long you need your garden hose is absolutely essential if you don't want to end up adding an extension to a too-short hose or being unhappy, carrying a lot of extra hose all over your property which isn't actually needed. Measure out the length that you need and then go to the store and buy that length hose; don't change your mind for a smaller one in the store in order to save money. Chances are that you will not be happy with a hose that is even marginally too short.

In addition, think about the material that a garden hose is made from. A rubber hose costs a little bit more than some other materials; however, rubber will not kink up on you as quickly and it will also have a longer life. Synthetic hose materials tend to break much earlier than higher-quality rubber hoses. It's for this reason that spending the money once for a higher-quality product will actually end up saving you money in the long run, because you won't have to replace the hose nearly as often as you would if you bought a synthetic material that kinks and breaks easily.

The material from which a garden hose is made can tell you a lot about the quality of the hose; however, there are other things to think about when judging the quality of a hose, including the grade of the rubber and whether or not the hose has a warranty. Not only does a warranty give you peace of mind, but it also means that the company has a product that is of good enough quality that they don't mind backing it up because they know that they won't have to replace many hoses. Companies that make inferior products usually do not give warranties because they know that the product will soon fail anyway.

One last thing to think about when choosing your garden hose is a superficial point, but can be an important one. This is the issue of the neon green garden hose. If you find the neon hose in the store even slightly odd in color, rest assured that you will find them completely awed once they are next to the natural beauty of your property. While it might seem trivial to think about the color, it's absolutely true that more people will see your garden hose, and more often, than you think people will see it. If it's important to you to see colors blend, a more natural looking hose might be the best option for you.

The last important consideration is, make sure that the hose connectors are heavy brass for long lasting use. Buy a high quality rubber hose for trouble free use for many years to come.
