Importance of Hose Bridge System in Fire Department

A hose bridge system is vital in an emergency situation where a fire has occurred and valuable hoses must be strung across the street from a nearby fire hydrant. For other emergency vehicles, an ambulance, police car or other fire trucks to get through, those hoses must be protected from the autos driving over them. The hose bridge system is basically a modular device that takes only seconds to assemble that can be placed over the hose or hoses to allow the constant flow of water from the hydrant while extending the life of the water hose.

Hose Bridge System Design

A typical hose system will allow just one to several lines of hoses to pass through a channel with a ramp on either side of the hose. The channel can hold anywhere from a three inch to a six and a half inch diameter hose, depending on which product version is purchased. The sturdy material from which it is made - a UV stabilized polyurethane elastomer - can tolerate anywhere from 17,000 to over 23,000 pounds of weight per tire axle. A single tunnel modular cable hose and bridge system will consist of three parts, the two ramps on either side of the opening made for the hose itself. The open section will be laid on top of the hose with the hose exposed to the surface ground below it. The tires passing over the system should be of rubber only, and the system should be used in a temporary manner. A multiple tunnel modular cable hose and system will have the two ramps on the outside connecting to the tunnels, and in between each tunnel fits a tunnel connector to make a smooth bridge over the gap between them with two or three tunnels possible. The surface consists of a diamond plate tread pattern for excellent traction.
Assembling a Hose Bridge System

When putting together a hose bridge system, although speed is critical, safety is important as well. The area should be checked for safety hazards, and then the male and female parts of the ramp and the channel should be lined up accurately and put into place. Stepping on the connectors will establish a firm and stable surface. When the bridges are assembled, they should be in accordance with building and safety codes. Other vehicle drivers should be warned of their presence to make sure that there is clearance of the auto over the hose system. At about 16 inches wide, the height can range from just under four inches for the three inch hoses to an 8 1/8" inches for the 6 ?" lines. More than one of the systems can be placed together to widen the space available for wider tires if necessary. A hose bridge system is an excellent tool for increasing safety at a fire where protection for the hoses is necessary.

Finding The Best Garden Hose

When you go to buy a new water hose you likely want to find the best garden hose you can. But the term best hose can vary from person to person. It will also depend on what the intended use will be for the hose; there are different types for different needs.

What to Look For

For some people the best garden hose is the cheapest one they can find as it isn't necessarily a fun purchase, but remember you get what you pay for. Spending a little more upfront may y save you money in the long run.

Ideally you will want something that will be strong enough to resist abrasions, resist tangles and kinks, a multi ply design, quality brass fittings and a decent warranty. While you want a durable water hose you also may not want one that is heavy. If you don't care about the weight go for heavy duty, but if you want one that is durable but not too heavy look for one that is lightweight but still reinforced or multi ply for added strength.

If you are concerned about the materials often used in the production of hoses you should consider an eco-friendly one that is both lead free and safe enough to be used for drinking water. You may feel better watering your vegetables and herbs with this type, and it will be safer around children as well.
The type you choose can also make a big difference depending on how you intend to use it. You may even want a couple of different types for different uses. Outside of a standard garden hose there are a couple other types.

A garden soaker hose slowly drips water from tiny, hard to see holes. It is typically used with the holes facing down into the ground. It is often used to slowly soak an area allowing the water to really absorb into the soil. This may be a good option if you live in a dry climate and don't want to waste water through evaporation.

A coil garden hose looks a little bit like an old-fashioned coiled phone cord. They can be stretched while used but when finished they automatically spring back into their normal coiled shape. They are good for use in small areas like a patio, balcony or small garden.

To choose the best one for your needs think about why and where you will be using it most.

Why You Need to Invest in Water Hose Reels?

Water and air hoses have great utility and these can be used in a large variety of settings. In various home settings, the water hoses are put to use widely in the garden, garage and backyard area. The water and air hoses are also used in several industries varying from pharmaceutical companies, food processing plants to automobile factories. There are different ways of organizing the air or water hose at home, but a highly effective way of keeping the hose efficiently in the right place and also to protect it from any kind of wear and tear is by using retractable hose reels. These reels of the retractable nature are designed by the experts for water and air hoses. These can be put to use anywhere conveniently and the best part is that these can be mounted with ease on any surface like floors and walls. One of the biggest advantages of using retractable water hose reels is the increased level of protection which it offers to your hose. While there can be different reasons for investing in a good quality retractable reel, some of the important ones are listed below:

The protection provided to your water hose: - There is no denying the fact that constant pressure because of exposure to water and moisture will ultimately damage the water hose. Also damage will happen if there is an absence of dry storage space at all times. This is where a retractable reel plays a crucial role and it is of great help in keeping the hose properly in the place when it is not being used. And the best part is that you will get an easy access whenever you wish to use it. So it can be rightly said that it is because of a retractable reel that the hose is well protected from any kind of early depreciation. This way you will be easily able to make the most out of the hose for a subsequently long time.

Make organization absolutely trouble-free and space-saving: - Another important reason which makes investing in a water hose reel a smart choice is the hassle free organisation. It is to be noted that organising several hoses is a space is a time consuming and tricky activity. You will have to face the tiring job of bundling them up together and then to knot them. On top of that you will have to store them properly in an appropriate storage space.

The Basics of Fire Sprinkler Inspection

Home owners and business owners alike have the specter of fire damage hanging over them as one of the most prolific causes of damage to property. Many have this concern diminished as a result of the installation of a fire protection service or sprinkler system but like every system, it needs maintenance to keep it functional or else it is not going to be of much use in the event that a fire does occur on your property. As much attention must be paid then to maintenance as was to installation or even sourcing the appropriate company from which the system would be purchased. This requires regular inspection.

Aside from being a very good practice in respect to your own safety and that of the people and items that occupy your sprinkler protected building, inspections are also a legal requirement for many. It can be a more simple matter to have your sprinkler system inspected by the company that installed it but this is not absolutely necessary and where impossible you can look to another firm. Some companies specialize primarily in inspection rather than installation and they can be considered in these circumstances as well.

The inspection itself will be conducted by a trained technician who checks various aspects of the system including the flow of water, the functionality of the alarm system and the valves. The head of each sprinkler will also have to be inspected to see that its reserves are adequate. If there have been any changes to the system, your technician may in quire about these and any blockages that might hinder the function of the system. At the end of this inspection, he or she will make note on the devices of the time and date of the inspection and let you know anything that might need replacing or otherwise be cause for concern.
Rather than relying exclusively on the company to keep your sprinkler system in order, you should also be aware of some basic methods of maintenance so that you can keep your fire prevention system in the best shape possible between visits. No one in your home or business should be hanging objects from the heads of the sprinklers. This can weaken them. Try not to touch, hit or otherwise tamper with the sprinkler heads unnecessarily as well. You may inadvertently make adjustments to them which can make them less able to protect you in the event of a fire. For similar reasons you should avoid painting the heads of the sprinkler system. This may lead to an obstruction of the water flow if the paint seals off any of the holes the water would have come through. Remember to check for other blockages or anything else out of the ordinary at least once a month as well and if you have concerns, remember to call in a professional. When your safety and property can end up at risk it is better to be safe than sorry.

Should I Handle My Own Fire Sprinkler Installation?

When it comes to protecting yourself from the threat of a fire, no option compares to fire sprinklers. They don't need anyone to operate them, nor does anyone have to be around to even activate them. They contain the fire as much as possible so it doesn't spread, and they limit the amount of property damage done. For all these reasons and more, you should be considering fire sprinkler installation. However, if you're looking to save a buck or simply enjoy a good project, you may also be considering handling the project on your own. Before you do, let's take a look at fire sprinkler installation and some things you should know.

Handling Fire Sprinkler Installation on Your Own

The truth of the matter is that you have a number of options for installing your own fire sprinkler system. Thanks to the Internet, all the parts are out there. So long as you have an understanding of your piping system, you may very well be able to pull off an installation. Plus, the actual fire sprinklers only need to be connected to the pipes. Their design ensures they'll go off if a fire happens.

That being said, this doesn't mean handling your own fire sprinkler installation is a good idea. The American Fire Sprinkler Association is very much opposed to the idea of anyone without formal training attempting this process.

For one thing, they recommend that you only use materials approved by the National Fire Protection Association and that your installation meets their standards. Even with the Internet on your team, you may have a hard time pulling his off. Meeting their standards may also be difficult if you're not sure on what exactly they mean.

Plus, you need to consider your insurance company. Many providers lower your premiums after a fire sprinkler installation. However, chances are they're also very specific about who can handle it. If you're not licensed, credentialed, certified, etc., there's a good chance your insurance company doesn't want you doing it. They may not lower your premium or, in the event of a fire, they may not be legally obligated to help you. Saving some money upfront really won't be worth it then.

Your home may never catch fire (hopefully), but it can still take on plenty of damage if you try installing your own sprinkler system. The process involves altering the supply of water to your home meaning you'll be giving it access to just about every room. This isn't anything to worry about so long as the installation is handled correctly. However, if it's not, you could have a pipe break or a sprinkler head drop out and all your hard work will simply net you one wet house.

How to Fix a Leaky Water Faucet

The first thing to do is to close the water supply to your sink or shower. In case it is the sink leaking, you will find below inside the vanity a couple of knobs on the wall, close them all the way and open the faucets to make sure the water supply has been closed. In case it is the shower, it will be necessary to close the water supply to the entire house; you will find the water valve outside the house or in the basement. Again close it and open a couple of faucets inside the house so the water pipes are completely emptied.

These instructions apply to a leaky shower and to a water faucet. Using the correct screwdriver, remove the handles with the letters H and C from the water valves. These should be plastic or metal, pry them gently and they will come off. Below them you will see screw heads, remove them and pull the knobs out. Pulling them out may take a little effort because they have been there for a while but with a little juggling they will come out. You will see a long cylinder which at the end, nearest to the wall, will have the shape of a large nut.

Take the wrench and put it tightly over the nut and turn it firmly counterclockwise. The whole thing will move, keep turning until you remove it from the wall. When removing it be careful not to damage or lose a plastic ring which acts as a gasket to keep water from dripping along the edges of the faucet. On the inside of the valve you will see a small rubber stopper, usually black, that closes the water flow when the water is off. These stoppers wear down, rip, or become deformed with time; this is what causes the leak.

Unscrew the stopper and head out to the hardware store to get a new one. These come in little boxes which contain several stoppers and screws. The kit may also contain different sizes of stoppers so be careful when picking the ones you will be buying. Once at home all you have to do is reverse the process. Chose the right size stopper, it should fit snuggly within the valves base. If it is too large, it will not close the water flow properly and if it is too small water will continue to leak. This is why you have to take the stopper with you to the store. You have to buy one that has exactly the same circumference as the old one.

It is a good idea to change both stoppers at the same time, if one is leaking the other one will probably start leaking soon. You have already cut the water supply so why not get the job completely done and forget about a leaky shower for a couple of years. Screw the stoppers into place firmly, not too tight to deform it and not to lose so that it moves. Put the valves back in place turning it clockwise until it is tight against the wall. Reassemble the handles and you are done. In a few minutes, you saved time and money, and best of all you have become a plumber.

Learn About Indoor Hydroponics Gardening

Indoor Hydroponic gardening has become quite popular in recent years as an alternative to soil gardening. In many cases it is easier and safer to grow your garden using a hydroponic solution. You know exactly how much to feed your plants, and there are many systems that use timers that automatically feed them, so you have very little to do on your own.

Types of Hydroponics Systems:

Wick System: The first one is the wick system, which has no actual moving parts and is easy to use be even beginning gardeners. Simply put, the Wick system uses two different trays, one on the other. The upper tray holds the plants in a growing medium, the lower tray holding the liquid nutrients. A 'wick' runs from the second tray into to bottom of the first, and the nutrients are automatically drawn up into the planting medium. One of the biggest draw backs of using this system is that if you are growing plants that have large food requirements, often times the wick doesn't draw it into the upper tray fast enough.

Drip Systems: The second most popular system that is more widely used than the Wick System is the Drip system. In this case, the set up is basically the same, with the plants held in a growing medium, the liquid nutrients in the bottom. There is not wick to draw the food up, instead a pump forces water and food into a drip system held above the planting tray, and drips down on the plants to feed them. The pump is operated on a timer which turns the pump on and off automatically as needed. With this method, there is also a recovery system, usually some kind of tube at the bottom of the upper tank, that drains out into the reservoir.

Because these two systems are the most popular and widely used, they are also the most available and easy to purchase. You can find these at many different lawn and garden supply stores, or you can order them directly online. You have a variety of different ordering choices. You can order what you need separately, as a complete system that all you have to do is put together, add seedlings and you're ready to go, or even many that are available as DIY kits, with plans and complete instructions on making your own hydroponic garden. Many of the supplies you will need for these kits can be found at local retailers, saving you money on supply costs, as well as shipping from an online store. In many cases, the initial costs for the whole system can be around $300-$500.

What are the advantages of using hydroponic systems?

For one, once it is set up and running, there is very little for you to do. This is ideal for people who want an organic garden, but may have busy schedules. All they have to do is make sure there are enough nutrients in the solution, and make sure that the timers are set correctly. There is no worries about weeds, and things like that, and there are even lights on timers that will turn on and off automatically.

How They Could Benefit Your Home

The benefits of hyrdroponic gardening systems are overwhelming. Topsoil erosion is avoided completely, as well as the use of pesticides and overuse of water. A hydroponic gardening system can also yield healthier, faster growing plants-with up to 50% faster growth. Hydroponic gardening also reduces the chances of infestation and disease as well as fungus growth. Additionally, a hydroponic system reduces the amount of energy spent on caring for and maintaining a garden. Most kits have automatic timers, drip systems and additional equipment, which keep the garden in great shape daily.

The word hydroponic comes from the Latin and literally means "water labor" or, respectively, "water-working." Hydroponic gardening was developed by the ancient Incas and Aztecs and surprised 19th century travelers. European gardeners then realized it was not necessarily the soil that helped a crop grow, but that it was the nutrients inside the soil. While soil helps decompose organic matter into mineral and nutrient-rich salts, these same components can be provided in a water solution for plants. In fact, providing the nutrients in water to the plants avoids extra work for the plant. The roots are able to gather nutrients quickly and without needing to breakdown soil. Additionally, the nutrients directly reach the roots daily and at the proper measurements.

A hydroponic gardening kit will often come with a container of some sort, which allows for maximum water efficiency as well as seeds. Nutrients or plant food is included with directions for proper feeding. Kits can also come with additions like: lighting, timers, baskets, drips, domes, converters, and frames.

Home systems can be developed for the cost of under $40.00. Construction includes building a rectangular frame and lining with polyurethane in order to keep the water from leaking. Then add a floating Styrofoam top with intermittent holes throughout. Plants can be purchased commercially in net pots, which enable the root system to stay compact during the first few steps of growing. Once the plants are secured in the holes (sometimes using a small, thin wood rod through the base of the plant and through the Styrofoam can keep it in pace), add water. Ensure all plant roots are immersed in the water. Then find a water solution that works best for your system. You can create PVC pipe feeding systems or add water throughout a side area, but do not feed directly over plants. Drip systems are better for your plant life than direct feeding, which does not ensure proper nutrient balance.

While home systems can be created quite easily, they do not have timers or additional equipment to maintain the water garden. For beginners, hydroponic gardening systems purchased as kits are probably the best option. Kits are available as simple starter kits or with as deluxe packages, which include premium feeding solutions and maintenance equipment.

What to Consider When Buying a Hose Reel

Not every household has a hose reel simply because not all people need one. But for those who are maintaining a garden or an outdoor property like a back or front yard, having one is quite a convenience. A hose reel can keep your property looking clean and is an efficient gardening tool.

Improperly chosen reels can lead to several scenarios. Getting an air hose reel for example instead of one for water hoses would obviously mean that your hose may not fit. Reel fittings may also differ according to the length of the hose and its circumference. If you don't want to waste your money on a useless reel, you need to make sure it is the right match for your hose.

Aside from being an improper fit, a hose reel may also have the wrong features. Reels for water hoses used in sheds for example are different from those used in gardens. Garden reels need to have large wheels so they don't get stuck in gravel or mud tracks. Reels for garden hoses should also ideally have an automatic retracting function. You don't want to get one with a manual crank if you don't want to soil your fingers over a mud stained hose.

For those who have a vast area in mind, the cart type would be the better option. This is because the hose may not be capable of reaching across the entire property, and may have to be brought along in a rolling cart in order to do so. Even cart reels have different options within the type, all with their own special features designed to cater to your particular needs.

If you intend to get a cart type hose reel, check for the wheels. Wheels that are evenly sized are perfectly all right if the terrain you are taking it over is flat and smooth. On the other hand, if you are bringing it through uneven or irregular ground surfaces, you might prefer the kinds of carts that allow for tilting or have big back wheels.

You are more likely to find an appropriate reel if you know exactly what you need. Before you even start reading reviews, take note of your specific needs. Find out if you need a hose reel for gardening or for patio cleaning. Determine too the size of your property so you'll know whether a reel cart will be more ideal than a wall mount.

You might also want to check a reel brand for extra features. You may prefer one with padded handles, an anti tip mechanism, exterior casing, automatic reeling, tool trays and more.

Although a hose reel does not usually come up on one's list of household priorities, it is a very useful tool for those people who are maintaining yards or lawns. It keeps your outdoors organized and clean, making it an efficient tool for any serious gardener.

3 Ways to Manage Your Garden Hose

Yard work and water hoses go hand-in-hand, yet for many people neatly managing their garden hose is often difficult if not impossible. Anyone who has spent any time untangling a long rubber hose to remove the kinks and keep water pressure steady knows exactly what I mean.

Fortunately, there are several practical and inexpensive solutions to hose management. Three options are a hose pot, a hose rack or a hose reel to help you maintain and manage your garden and yard watering tasks.

Rack It Up With A Hose Rack

These racks are an excellent option if you prefer to keep your hose off the ground. This could help you keep them from deteriorating over time and also keep them cleaner as less dirt and fewer bugs will crowd its coil.

Hose racks also help you save floor space, as they neatly hang on the wall and help you make the most of your garage or garden shed wall space. Hose racks are often simple devices that simply allow you to coil and store your watering devices together.

Reel It In With A Hose Reel

Like the rack, the reel isn't terribly decorative, but it is a very practical device to have around when you're watering your yard or garden. A hose reel often features a guide to help you coil your hose neatly, a large wheel with a handle to smoothly pull your watering device into it, and sometimes even small wheels attached beneath it to help you cart the reel about the yard as you need.

Sometimes reels take a fair amount more space than the coil alone, but its ease of use and practicality make it worth it.

Hide It Away With A Hose Pot

If you want to keep your hose at hand while in your garden but you don't want the cluttered appearance of it coiled on the ground, you should consider a hose pot. Hose pots are pretty much what their label implies: a pot for holding your hose. Thankfully, this simple description belies the decorative appeal and simple practicality of these multi-purpose garden pots.

They often feature a built-in reel and they almost always feature a decorative flair to turn your utilitarian storage need into an opportunity to accent your yard or garden with an aesthetically pleasing copper or painted pot.

From pure function to function paired with aesthetics, the choice is yours. With a hose rack, reel or pot solutions, I'm sure you can find a way to more neatly and effectively manage and maintain your garden hose for many years to come.

Are You Over Watering Your Garden?

Most gardeners know when their garden needs watering and are well aware of the effects of under watering their plants. Too few gardeners are aware of the dangers of over watering, however. Over watering is even worse and more damaging. The biggest reason for the death of a house plant is because it has been over watered.

Depending on the type of plant, the time of year, the temperature, your climate, the signs of an over watered plant are generally universal. The most common symptoms are defoliation where the lower leaves on the plant turn yellow and fall, wilting or drooping, spotted foliage, and gray fuzzy mould around the stem, leaves and flowers of the plant.

These symptoms can also be an indication of other problems rather than over watering. Sudden and fast defoliation could also be caused by rapid changes in temperature and possibly under watering. Gradual defoliation could be from insufficient light or fertilizer. Too much fertilizer or exposure to extreme cold could make the leaves fall. An easy way to determine whether you are over watering is by carefully observing how frequently you water your plants. Another way is to check the plant's roots to see if they appear rotten.

The plants in your garden should receive about one inch of water per week, as a general rule. This is only a starting platform for watering your garden; it is much more effective if you personally observe your garden in order to judge how much water it needs. Depending on the seasonal needs of your garden plants, remember that this one inch amount will have to be adjusted from time to time.

The rate of evapotranspiration is one of the most significant environmental factors affecting how much water your garden will need. Evapotranspiration refers to the two ways that plants lose water. Evaporation is when your plants naturally loose water into the air. Transpiration is when plants lose water by itself, usually through the leaves or the stem.

A most effective way of watering your garden is with a hose and making the task easy is a water hose reel. So many times it is a drudgery to unwind the kinks out which stop the flow or untangle a hose that has been put away hastily. A hose reel will solve these problems. In this way, the task will be less overlooked and ensure your garden gets the water when it needs it.

Just use some common sense when watering your garden. First, simply examine the soil to see if it is too dry and crumbly, or if it's too wet and muddy. Checking the soil often will help you avoid both over watering and under watering. Second, water slowly. Watering too quickly causes runoff and waste. Third, water deeply so that more than just the top layer of soil receives water. You want to make sure the water is getting to the root system. And last gardening tip is to water your garden in the morning when it's cool. If you water during the day the heat of the sun causes the water to evaporate too quickly. And if you water in the evening disease and fungal growth can occur in humid climates.

Portable sprinklers are particularly useful

You know that watering your lawn is an important part of lawn care, but your time is limited. In addition to hiring someone to do the job for you, you can also set up a portable sprinkler to do the job for you.

Portable sprinklers are particularly useful when the lawn is small, because moving it by hand on large lawns can be troublesome. If you live in an area with moderate rainfall, you can use a portable sprinkler to supplement the rainfall during the occasional drought.

You can easily purchase portable sprinklers in any well-stocked nursery or hardware store. Check the information on the sprinkler. It should indicate the size and shape of the area it can cover.

There are many designs of portable sprinklers, and you should carefully evaluate which one can meet your needs. Some models allow you to cover irregular lawns, while other models may have a tractor system that can move along the water pipe.

After purchasing a portable sprinkler, you will need to test it to see its performance. Especially if you want to know how much water the lawn covers. First, place the portable sprinkler in the center of the lawn, and then turn it on for about ten seconds. You want to know exactly how much area it can cover. After ten seconds, turn off the portable sprinkler and place about seven or eight empty cups in the area covered by the portable sprinkler. Turn on the portable sprinkler again and let it run for ten minutes.

After ten minutes, turn off the portable sprinkler and check the amount of water in each cup. The amount of water in each cup will be different because the water distribution of portable sprinklers tends to be uneven. However, the deviation should not exceed 0.25 inches. You will use the cup with the least amount of water to estimate. Assume that the amount of water in the cup is at least 0.2 inches. If you want to use 0.5 inches of water, you must let the portable sprinkler run for 25 minutes.

A good hose is also essential for the effective operation of your portable sprinkler. A good hose is easy to roll up in any weather and will not kink or break. Inexpensive hoses will bring you more trouble to repair, because the hoses will kink and break after a period of use. You will also waste precious water due to leaks of cheap hoses.

It is also recommended to connect a timer between the faucet and the hose. You only need to set the timer and it will automatically turn off the sprinkler after the set time. This prevents water wastage.

Once everything is set up correctly, you will need to monitor the response of the lawn and adjust the water consumption accordingly. Portable sprinklers may not be able to cover several spots on the lawn, so you must water these spots manually. However, with the introduction of portable sprinklers, the time to water the lawn will be greatly reduced, and you can have more time to relax and do what you want to do.

Micro sprinklers provide water for specific plants

Even a few months ago, I had never heard of micro sprinklers.

This may be why until recently, I have been using garden hoses to water flowers and beautify plants.

This sounds like you? Do you want to complete the chores of watering in one go, and then don't worry? Then, you may also be interested in mini sprinklers.

Micro sprinklers provide water for specific plants and small areas

Homeowner irrigation has become one of the hottest new trends. This is because the innovation of drip irrigation and micro sprinklers enables water to be directed to very specific plants and areas, instead of "broadcast spraying" on lawns, sidewalks, and driveways to obtain images.

For example, suppose you are considering using a drip irrigation system to water and beautify the environment. You may want to drip water on the trees, maybe some shrubs and flowers.

Drip irrigation allows you to place a single dripper on each plant, or basically just one dripper. But suppose you have some old trees and big trees. Just a few drip sprinklers are not enough for deep watering of these trees because their roots are likely to sink many feet.

This is the purpose of the micro sprinkler. They look like miniature sprinklers, and depending on the sprinkler you choose, they spray water on the ground around the tree with a diameter of 6 to 15 feet.

Even for novices, installation is easy

Micro nozzles are cheap, usually less than $10 each, and sometimes much less depending on the manufacturer. The price of drip irrigation nozzles is about $1 each.

Since the homeowner must be considered when installing, the installation is simple. You lay small-diameter rubber pipes (the most common one is a ?-inch pipe) in a continuous "snake shape" between plants, and connect drip irrigation nozzles and nozzles along the route as needed.

There are almost no "T"-shaped connectors for the transmitter and nozzle. This allows you to push the pipe to the "T" end of the transmitter or sprinkler to seal it. It's easy!

Then, you just need to place the sprinkler on the ground next to the desired plants, or fix the sprinkler on a tree stump.

You will need to carefully check the diameter of the watering area provided by the sprinkler. If the location of the sprinkler is 10 feet away from the plants to be watered, but the diameter that the sprinkler serves is 6 feet, then you will not be able to get water where you need it.

Once the water supply line is laid, you will need to study the timer system so that your watering procedure can be fully automated.

Micro Sprinkler Reviews

The review progress is slow, most likely because this is a fairly new technology.

In the reviews I found, people agreed that this is an easy to use, easy to install and maintain system. Several said that they found drip irrigation supplies at a local home improvement store, and there are also instructions for doing it yourself.

Keep in mind that drippers, micro-sprinklers, and pipes are all low-tech products and in many cases are made of plastic, so they are not intended to be used for life. You may find that certain parts are frequently stepped on, or one of the pets may drop some drippers.

Garden Hose Know-How!

Garden Hose Know-How! Do You Know What You Need?
It might sound strange to you that people need advice on buying a good garden hose... what's to know? Actually, there are really a lot of things that one needs to think about and look at before choosing which garden hose to take home and start using. Important aspects are material, length, and quality. While it might sound funny to think one has to think about the length, it's actually quite common that people end up with a ridiculously long garden hose that weighs a ton and isn't needed or they end up with a hose that's just a little bit too short to reach the corners of one's garden. Either situation is one that nobody wants to be in, so the best way to deal with the length question is to take a piece of string and measure out how far your garden hose needs to be in order to run from your outdoor faucet to all of the places on your property where you will want to bring the hose.

Measuring how long you need your garden hose is absolutely essential if you don't want to end up adding an extension to a too-short hose or being unhappy, carrying a lot of extra hose all over your property which isn't actually needed. Measure out the length that you need and then go to the store and buy that length hose; don't change your mind for a smaller one in the store in order to save money. Chances are that you will not be happy with a hose that is even marginally too short.

In addition, think about the material that a garden hose is made from. A rubber hose costs a little bit more than some other materials; however, rubber will not kink up on you as quickly and it will also have a longer life. Synthetic hose materials tend to break much earlier than higher-quality rubber hoses. It's for this reason that spending the money once for a higher-quality product will actually end up saving you money in the long run, because you won't have to replace the hose nearly as often as you would if you bought a synthetic material that kinks and breaks easily.

The material from which a garden hose is made can tell you a lot about the quality of the hose; however, there are other things to think about when judging the quality of a hose, including the grade of the rubber and whether or not the hose has a warranty. Not only does a warranty give you peace of mind, but it also means that the company has a product that is of good enough quality that they don't mind backing it up because they know that they won't have to replace many hoses. Companies that make inferior products usually do not give warranties because they know that the product will soon fail anyway.

One last thing to think about when choosing your garden hose is a superficial point, but can be an important one. This is the issue of the neon green garden hose. If you find the neon hose in the store even slightly odd in color, rest assured that you will find them completely awed once they are next to the natural beauty of your property. While it might seem trivial to think about the color, it's absolutely true that more people will see your garden hose, and more often, than you think people will see it. If it's important to you to see colors blend, a more natural looking hose might be the best option for you.

The last important consideration is, make sure that the hose connectors are heavy brass for long lasting use. Buy a high quality rubber hose for trouble free use for many years to come.

A Sprinkler Hose Vs A Regular Garden Hose

If you are looking to buy a new water hose you will quickly learn there are a variety of hoses available. In order to choose the best one for your needs it is good to know a little bit about the different types available. It may be best to have a couple different types, but if you are short on space, or money, you may want to choose the one that will give you the most functionality.
Round Hoses
A typical garden hose is round and usually 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter. While 1/2 inch is sufficient for watering the garden or using a sprinkler if you need greater water pressure you may want to get one that is larger in diameter.
When it comes to length they are usually anywhere from 25 feet to 100 feet. If you have a small space it is better to go with a shorter one so you don't have to drag the excess around with you. But if you plant to use it for multiple purposes make sure you have enough length to for all of your needs; other than a little extra weight having a little excess is better with this type of hose.
Round hoses are pretty flexible. You can attach a sprinkler to water the garden or lawn. You can add a sprayer attachment to wash the car or the patio. Or you can use it without an attachment.
Flat Hoses
A sprinkler hose is a type of flat hose that has evenly spaced tiny holes on one side of it. It is placed on the ground with the holes facing up, when the pressure of the water is forced through the sprinkler hose it creates a fine spray that works well for newly seeded grass or gardens.
Another type of flat hose is the soaker hose. This type also has tiny holes on one side, but this one is placed with the holes facing down. This allows the water to seep into the ground at a slow but continuous rate. This type is good for dry or windy climates as it helps cut down on water evaporation.
While flat hoses are less versatile they do help fulfill a specific need.

How to Select a Really Good Water Hose

What separates a good water hose from the cheap junk so often found in the big box discount stores? Here are some of the features to look for in a quality hose that will give you years of good service.

Drinking Water Safe: "Drinking water safe" is not an absolute designation since all hoses release some small amounts of chemicals. PVC and synthetic rubber hoses release small amounts of toxic or known carcinogenic compounds into the water and are not generally considered drinking water safe. Ether-based Polyurethane is the best choice for drinking water safe hose construction since it releases very little in the way of harmful materials.

Quality Construction: Look for brass fittings. Brass has the unique ability to form water-tight brass-to-brass connections. The other advantage of brass is its great resistance to corrosion. Another sign of a superior hose is the use of high-density rubberized hose kink guards on both ends of the hose to eliminate any possibility of the hose collapsing or kinking to a closed position when pulled taunt from the faucet.

Durability: According to data compiled from lab testing results provided by plastic tubing manufacturers and chemical compound manufacturers such as Dow Chemical, BF Goodrich and others, this is my best guess as to the life expectancy you might get from hoses made of these different materials.
PVC hose (these are usually the cheapest hoses) - about 1 year.
Cheaper Polyurethane compounds (doesn't say "ether") - about 3 - 5 years.
High quality multi-layer Rubber - about 5 - 10 years.
Ether-based Polyurethane - about 5 - 10 years.

Hose Style: Most hoses are of the straight variety. Straight hoses reach to their full length but are the most difficult to store. Straight hoses can be stored on a hose reel, but it is often difficult to muscle them on and off the reel. If you want to use a reel, a Polyurethane hose is your best choice since they are lighter and more flexible. Coiled hoses are easier to retract back into their coil shape for a more compact storage. Cheaper coiled hoses tend to lose the coil memory and twist and kink into a tangled mess. There is a hybrid type of coil hose which retracts back to a very compact flat stack and is a good choice if you need the hose to stow into a small space.

Care and Maintenance: With good care and maintenance you can greatly extend the life of your hose. Even with the best UV resistant hoses, long term sun exposure is the greatest threat to long hose life. If at all possible, store your hoses out of the sun when not in use. If you live where the winters are cold, you should drain your hose before storage so that the hose material doesn't crack due to the expansion of ice.
With these guidelines and advice in mind, you should be able to find a hose that meets your needs and will provide you years and years of good service.

Tips for using water-saving surface irrigation sprinklers

Reasonable design of ditch and border size and irrigation technique parameters. Leveling the land is an important water-saving and production-increasing method to improve the quality of surface irrigation sprinklers, shorten the irrigation time, and improve the efficiency of irrigation sprinklers.
Connecting land leveling, changing long borders (ditch) to short borders (ditch), and wide borders to narrow borders, designing a reasonable border size and flow rate into borders (ditch) can greatly improve the uniformity of irrigation sprinklers and irrigation efficiency.

Second, using water-saving irrigation nozzles to irrigate with film is a new ground irrigation method developed in our country on the basis of mulching cultivation techniques. It is an irrigation method in which mulch film is used to cover all borders and furrows in a flat manner, and the irrigation nozzles of the mulch film are used to deliver water, and the irrigation method of the fruit trees is given to the fruit trees through the irrigation nozzles of the fruit trees.
Because the irrigation sprinkler irrigation hole only accounts for 1% to 5% of the irrigation area of ??the field, the rest of the area is mainly moistened by the side seepage water, so the film irrigation is actually a local irrigation.
The combination of plastic film cultivation and irrigation sprinkler irrigation techniques has the characteristics of saving water, maintaining fertilizer, increasing ground temperature, inhibiting the growth of weeds, and improving fruit quality.

The irrigation quality of a sprinkler irrigation system

Arrangement of sprinklers
Arrangement of sprinkler irrigation sprinklers The arrangement of sprinklers in a sprinkler irrigation system includes the combination of sprinklers, the spacing of sprinklers along branch pipes, and the spacing of branch pipes. Whether the nozzle arrangement is reasonable or not is directly related to the whole
The irrigation quality of a sprinkler irrigation system. Sprinkler irrigation
The combination of sprinklers mainly depends on the shape of the plot and the influence of the wind, generally rectangular and triangular, or its special case square and regular triangle. Rectangle or square layout, suitable for the condition of regular plots and right-angled edges. This form of design is simple and easy to make each
The flow of the branch pipes is relatively balanced; the triangular or equilateral triangular arrangement is suitable for irregular plots, or the boundary of the plot is open, even if the spraying range exceeds part of the boundary, it will not affect the situation. This arrangement has strong wind resistance, and the spray uniformity is higher than rectangular or square. At the same time, the number of sprinkler nozzles used is relatively small, but it is not easy to balance the flow of each branch pipe. Sometimes the shape of the plot is very complicated, or there are obstacles in the plot, which makes the combination of sprinkler nozzles irregular. But in most sprinkler irrigation systems, square or regular triangle arrangements can be used as much as possible.
2.1 Square arrangement In a square arrangement, the distance between the sprinkler nozzles along the branch pipe is equal to the distance between the branch pipes, but the distance between the diagonal nozzles is 1.41 times the distance between the branch pipes.

Solving the nozzle problem-a secret everyone should remember

Sprinkler problems can drive you crazy, this may be the sprinkler head of the broker today, and the next day it may be a rush to buy the pipe. One day, your lawn looks like a smooth green carpet, and then you wake up in a barren wasteland, wondering what happened. Once the lawn looks like garbage, you will stand out as "that guy" on the street, regardless of what his lawn looks like. Don't that guy! Due to a big mistake, most people start to feel helpless when they encounter print head problems... They look at the print head system as a whole, rather than several components that make up the print head system.

In this article, we will focus on sprinklers. When you encounter a nozzle problem, the first thing you should pay attention to is to determine what the real problem is? If you see huge sprinklers popping up around the corner of the yard, try to turn off the water and reach the sprinklers directly. Maybe someone hit the sprinkler head, or maybe you hit it with a lawn mower last week and didn't notice until now. In this case, the problem is the sprinkler itself, not the clock, wire, or sprinkler timer.

Sprinklers are an integral part of sprinkler systems that usually cause sprinkling problems. It consists of separate parts like the body, all parts can be put into it. Inside the body are shafts and springs, although water flows upwards. At the top is the actual spray head, which is screwed into the shaft and determines the spray mode and length of the spray head.

In most cases, you can replace the broken sprinkler head, such as replacing a broken nozzle (if it is cut). Even if the entire sprinkler is replaced, it should be simply unscrewed and replaced with a new sprinkler. Let yourself carry out this process easily, shaking and twisting the nozzles to push the dirt away and give yourself some space to replace the nozzles without having to dig deeper.

If you happen to need to dig out the nozzle to solve the nozzle problem, please make a good large circumference so that there is enough space to reach your hand here. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to reverse and frustrate with only a few inches of movement.

After replacing the nozzle, please wait until it is tested before closing the hole. Many times, someone thought they solved the nozzle problem, but then realized that they had to dig up the nozzle again because they didn't tighten the nozzle properly.
